Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome Trust

established in december 2014, stow maries great war aerodrome trust is the charity that operates and manages the restoration of the europe's only remaining great war aerodrome. a huge, multi-million-gbp project, it involves the restoration of over 20 early 20th century buildings, and a plan to reinstate up to 20 wooden buildings that once occupied the site. the aerodrome, first created in 1917, finished its operational life in 1919 as home to nearly 500 servicemen and women - first the royal flying corps, and then after april 1st, 1918, the royal air force. there are presently two hangars on site, with aircraft stationed here - both period and non period. we have completed the first of three planned permanent exhibitions on site to house our growing collection - the 2nd due in may 2017. we have a fully restored period 'mess', or cafe. we have a shop. we have a thriving events program and are an exemplar for volunteering. we are also an active aerodrome for single -engined, fixed wing a
