Stowarzyszenie "Wieża Książęca W Siedlęcinie" / "The Ducal Tower of Siedlecin" Association

the ducal tower of siedlęcin near jelenia góra (lower silesia, poland) is one of the biggest and best-preserved examples of a fortified tower house in central europe. its construction took place in 1313/1314 as a hunting retreat for henry i, duke of jawor. the tower's roof and wooden floors still feature most of the original timberwork from that time. the duke, along with his wife, agnes of bohemia, also commissioned a series of polychromies in the tower's great hall. today, they are the only known mural depiction of the arthurian legend of sir lancelot of the lake preserved in situ in europe. in 2001 the tower was acquired by the chudow castle fund, and since 2010 it has been looked after by the "the ducal tower of siedlecin" association. the association is responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the tower and its immediate surroundings. the tower is open to the public daily between 10am - 6pm (may - oct) and 10am - 4pm (nov - apr).
