her foray into this started with oliver’s. starting with oliver’s ruth came to know about oliver’s and fell in love with its sandwich offerings during one of her trips to hong kong. thus, when she and her husband were considering a business, ruth was already decided she would bring in oliver’s super sandwiches. there was a problem though -- oliver’s was not available for franchising, especially in the philippines. the couple went to hong kong and ruth introduced herself to oliver’s people and managed to get a 5-minute meeting with a company official. the meeting lasted for hours and the official was impressed by ruth’s enthusiasm, plans and optimism. still, oliver’s was not going to the philippines, not at that time. ruth left hong kong and returned home with nothing but a promise made by the official that if oliver’s changes its mind and decide to put up stores in the philippines, ruth would have it. for months, she would call oliver’s hong kong. her perseverance paid off when, one da
