we’re street law—a nonprofit organization that creates classroom and community programs that teach people about law, democracy, and human rights worldwide. street law program participants benefit from “real-life” lessons and insights, which they can use to effect positive change for the rest of their lives. our accessible, engaging, and interactive programs empower students and communities to become active, legally-savvy contributors to society. street law was founded in 1972 as a project of the georgetown university law center in which law students received academic credit for teaching practical law lessons in district of columbia public high schools. the original street law model has expanded to nearly 100 law schools, spanning a dozen nations and reaching thousands of persons annually. street law’s staff members are global leaders in civic education. they train individuals and organizations—including 40 fortune 500 corporations and a dozen of the nation’s largest law firms—to become
