Streetlights

streetlights, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1992 to provide job training, job placement and career advancement services to economically and socially disadvantaged ethnic minorities living in los angeles and the surrounding areas. our mission is two-fold: we create careers in the entertainment industry for severely low income young adults while simultaneously increasing ethnic diversity on the sets and stages of hollywood. streetlights offers free production assistant training and entry-level job placements, followed by advancement onto union crews or into long-term staff positions. our focus is on the positions behind-the-camera: an area in which ethnic diversity continues to be conspicuously lacking. the lynchpin of our success is the commercial diversity initiative. in this ground-breaking program, major advertisers (honda, toyota, general mills) as well as top advertising agencies (saatchi & saatchi) make union apprenticeships available to experienced graduate
