streets alive softly closes streets to automobile traffic, so that children, young and old, can freely walk, bike, play or share food, music and art with their neighbors in hood river. about on sunday, september 30th, hood river will experience our first open streets event called streets alive, in the heights. between 11am and 3pm, we’ll close some lanes of 12th and 13th streets in the business district and softly close a few neighborhood streets east of 12th to create a route that is safe for all ages and abilities to stroll, roll, play, dance or simply talk to your neighbors. free the 4 hour event is free for everyone. we encourage you to grab food or drinks from local businesses along the route. mission -community - we want a neighborhood that is an extension of our front porch, where going out is “going in” and you can’t make it a block without running into someone you know. -health - hood river is our free gym, whereby active mobility like walking and biking are the easiest and
