the stroke awareness foundation (saf) was founded in 2002 by pat dando, chuck toeniskoetter & chuck hoffman. since it's inception, saf has been instrumental in helping local hospitals to become certified stroke centers and advocated for a policy to redirect emergency medical transportation in santa clara county so that all stroke victims will be transported directly to a certified stroke center. the stroke awareness foundation mission is to improve community awareness and better prepare families and loved ones for what can be the devastating effects of stroke. we support hospital stroke center certification, training and redirection efforts of paramedics and emergency care, as well as continued education about the warning signs of stroke and the need to seek proper medical care immediately. our goal is to save lives and improve outcomes of stroke victims. we rely on the generous donations, 100 percent of which stay here in santa clara county. to support stroke awareness in our communit
