the student intellectual property society at virginia tech is an organization of undergraduate students dedicated to learning about intellectual property issues and promoting awareness of the subject amongst the general student body. members of the society have the opportunity to participate in activities such as weekly current topic discussions, student positions on the intellectual property committee at virginia tech, intellectual property internships, professional development services, field trips to aipla meetings and an annual trip to washington, d.c. to visit the u.s. patent and trademark office and several prominent intellectual property law firms. sips was founded on september 10th, 2009 by virginia tech engineering students kevin sprenger, jonathan hall, and scott salcetti. all three students were members of the non-greek fraternity, the german club of virginia tech, and shared a desire to learn more about intellectual property. however, each realized that there were limited
