Studentmax Connections (Smc)

in 2003, nursing leaders from hospitals and schools of nursing throughout portland, oregon and southwest washington joined forces to discuss the feasibility of developing a centralized approach to clinical placements of nursing students. a regional workgroup was formed, and evolved into a collaborative partnership between clinical and educational facilities throughout the region. out of this vision and early work a software product was created – studentmax®. in 2006 the consortium changed its name to studentmax connection (smc). as of 2011, the consortium officially became a nonprofit corporation. smc presently has 39 members, comprised of clinical partners, including hospitals, clinics, and long term care facilities, and education partners from schools of nursing. the consortium, smc, continues to meet monthly to expand opportunities for clinical placements, network and dialogue on clinical and education issues, and share innovative models for maximizing placements.
