Students for Hunger Relief

we organize large-scale, on-campus initiatives to address hunger in newark and connect students to the surrounding community. our initiatives involve working with external charitable organizations to acquire food and then holding on-campus packing events where volunteers prepare hundreds of meals. the meals from past initiatives have included rice, chicken, beef chili, chicken curry, and salad, which we acquired from 501(c)(3) accredited organizations. once all the food is packed, sfhr leads distribution efforts at various locations in newark like penn station, lincoln park, covenant house, and other shelters.
