here at studio greenbean, we love creating jewelry using pearls and wirework. we think that the contrast between the hard look of wire and the delicate, classic, feel of pearls makes for especially interesting pieces to design, make, and wear. our materials we are committed to helping reduce our impact on our planet. to this purpose, we use materials that are eco-friendly: steel wire and freshwater pearls. more than half of us steel is made using scrap steel, which is melted into new steel materials. furthermore, steel scraps can be found all over the globe, allowing for the strategic placement of steel production facilities and reduced need for shipping over long distances. steel can be found in the majority of household appliances, cars, airplanes, and ships. steel is, ultimately, the most recycled material on the planet! freshwater pearls, unlike saltwater (or "natural") pearls, are created and harvested in aqua farms. this practice is less damaging to the ecosystem than is the harv
