m a • q a m [ arabic: مقام ] (noun) 1. place, location, position. 2. a melodic mode used as a basis for improvisation or composition in arabic, turkish and persian music. 3. a stage or degree along the path to illumination that can be achieved through human effort with as goal personal experience of divine reality. studio maqam is a contemporary urban modest fashion brand of made-to-order pieces for the young, strong muslim women full of life. conceived to celebrate diversity and empowerment, and taking account human impact on the environment and social responsibility with our (almost) zero-waste system. our clothing is made with either dead-stock leftover fabrics, or certified fabrics. that’s also why there are only limited items available, and what makes our designs exclusive and unique. to reduce waste, many of our items are not made until ordered by you. everything is designed and made in our studio based in the netherlands by our talented and caring team.
