studio of cinematic architecture (soca) is a london-based art and architecture practice that creates innovative public art and lighting installations in the public realm. we are interested in animating and activating public space with responsive, physical and digital interventions that connect people with places. we work closely with local communities to identify and celebrate unique social and cultural characteristics in our work and treat each project as an opportunity to explore and experiment. gabby shawcross is an artist and designer with a background in architecture, set design and interactive art. he qualified as an architect at the bartlett school of architecture and as a production designer from the national film and television school. before founding the studio he worked for seven years as senior designer at jason bruges studio and four years at hopkins architects. gabby also teaches a masters studio at the university of westminster, where students use film-making techniques
