piano nobile is a design studio and fabrication workshop. our work combines structure and surface design, fine art and fine craft. piano nobile is an italian term we first heard in venice, where life and work take place a few steps above sea level, on the second floor. we take our name from the upstairs loft where we started our studio. founding partners isabelle grizzard robertson, artist nickolas robertson, architect our process we create practical, intelligent, and beautiful design solutions through innovation and collaboration. in the studio and in the field we combine disparate techniques appropriate to each distinct project, from commercial and residential architecture to product design and materials development. the design studio creates systems and plans for homes, commercial spaces, and industry. we work throughout north america. the workshop produces organic linens, lighting, and home goods. our wholesale goods can be found in stores throughout the us and in japan. our design
