located in se portland, studio 317 is a first-in-kind prototype & innovation workspace for the apparel industry. studio 317 opened in august 2014 and is located on historic grant street. founded by elizabeth lemay—a retired industry executive, the studio provides local designers and entrepreneurs the opportunity to be hands-on during all the stages of the prototyping process—from an initial idea to a production-ready design. the studio works with clients big and small—from diy-clothing enthusiasts, to small and medium-sized design firms. in the short years since it has opened, the studio has helped launch successful start-up brands and worked on specialized initiatives for oregon’s largest sportswear giants.
