suicide shatters families is a community operated support group based in perth, western australia. the support group raises awareness of mental health issues and strives to eliminate the suicide epidemic occurring in society on a global level. we believe that once suicide is one too many so it's time to stop the stigma and screw the taboo. spread compassion and understanding instead. suicide shatters families was founded in september 2015 by laura wilder-bass and her children in honour of her husband and their father whom they lost to suicide. their starting aim for the organisation was to help raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health in australia and abroad. laura wanted to create a platform from where people who had recently lost a loved one to suicide could speak freely, honestly and openly, without being judged by anyone and with people who had been through similar experiences. the page was a phenomenal success almost immediately and by april 2017, ssf had gone glob
