Summer School for Young Chemists

summer chemistry school for young scientists is an event organized under the patronage of the slovenská komora chemickej olympiády (slovak chamber of the chemistry olympiad). twenty-four of the most successful participants from the regional round of the chemistry olympiad from category d are chosen to attend the summer school. this category includes elementary school students, who have demonstrated an active interest in chemistry. there is evidence that supported interest in a subject at this age can be a deciding factor for future career choice. furthermore, based on experience from summer school for older students, we know that meeting peers with a similar level of interest in chemistry is very motivating for the students’ further efforts. the participants will over the course of one week attend lectures, laboratory exercises and free time activities associated with teaching chemistry in a playful manner. thanks to selecting the students based on their involvement in the chemistry o
