today in australia there are over 6,200 younger people who are forced to live in nursing homes with people in their 80’s, as there is simply no alternative housing for them. there is urgent need to significantly increase the diverse range and scale of housing for people with disability. residential aged care separates younger people from their community, family, friends, partners and children. younger people with disability should have the ability to live in a home that meets their needs and allows them to continue to actively participate in the community, and to build and maintain relationships with family and friends. established in 2017, summer housing’s mission is to expand the range and scale of diverse housing options for people with disability living in, or at risk of admission to, residential aged care, particularly younger people. summer housing’s vision is to see all people with disability and complex care needs have the opportunity to live in high quality housing that enable
