Summit Area Ymca

since its founding in 1886, the summit ymca has been committed to strengthening its communities through programs that develop youth, foster healthy lifestyles, and promote social responsibility. we offer swimming lessons and swim team, group exercise classes, community wellness programs/events, senior fitness, youth and adult sports classes and leagues, and lectures series on health and nutrition topics. in addition, we offer an array of programs to the neediest members of our community. we founded our community development department to provide services to low income and minority area residents; we now offer the achievers program, which offers minority youth exposure to college, career planning, mentoring and leadership development; let’s get ready, a free sat and college prep course for minority, low-income and first generation college aspirants; and a variety of career exploration activities. the summit y is open to all members of our community. in 2010 the summit area ymca provided
