sun air travel services is the holding company behind sun air aviation and sun air group, established in 1981. operations began in 1991 under previous company name air west (scaa aoc#04) with two fokker f27 passenger planes, and multiple antonov 12/ 24/ 26/ 28/32 aircrafts, and yakovlev yak 42 and 40. air west also owned and operated 5 ilyushin il-76 cargo planes.until 2008, air west has worked with the united nations, red cross, unicef, wfp, african union, and in support of us troops from frankfurt, germnay with logistics into afghanistan and iraq and south sudan and west africa. air west was transformed into sun air aviation in 2008 with commencement of scheduled passenger flights to all sudan's national airports, and international destinations in the middle east region and africa. sun air aviation owned and operated b737-200s for it's scheduled operations and used a variety of other boeing aircrafts for it's charter and religious hajj and umrah operations, some of these aircrafts
