since the introduction of the suncarrier in 2004, a+f gmbh has focused on the industrial installation of solar power plants since 2006 with the suncarrier tracking system. suncarrier is a single-axis tracking system which continuously adjusts the surface of solar modules to the current position of the sun. this ensures a optimum angle for capturing sunlight and achieves an increased yield of up to 35 % additional revenue compared to conventional market solutions. depending on the type of module used, an output of up to 53 kwp (kwp, unit for measuring the output of solar cells and modules) can be derived from an installed module surface area of up to 287.5 square meters (3,094.61 square feet). at one location in southern europe, this corresponds to the same amount of energy required to supply up to 30 four-person households at a consumption of 3,500 kwh/year per household.
