sunnyfield is a leading disability service provider that has supported people with disability for 65 years to create choice, opportunities and independence for them to lead the lives they choose. sunnyfield supports over 1,700 people with disability in eight regional offices across nsw and achieves this through a person centred planning approach. this means the ‘person’ is at the ‘centre’ of the ‘planning‘ to support them in the decisions in their life. this approach reflects the ambition of sunnyfield’s founder, hazel whiddon who in 1951 put an advertisement in the manly daily newspaper to seek out other like-minded parents of children with an intellectual disability and form a group. today, one in five australians has a disability and sunnyfield provides over 1,500 services across accommodation, employment, respite care, training, education and recreation.
