the poster illustrated the course of treatment for a patient that she saw in the past year at sunnyview rehabilitation hospital. this patient exhibited an asymmetrical, mixed hearing loss which was significantly improved by an ent physician removing epithelial debris and crusting from the tympanic membrane. prior to the debris removal, a different ent physician performed a myringotomy which provided no resolution to her symptoms. this case demonstrates the possibility of mixed hearing loss resolution, necessity for ent referral, and identification of a pathology that is not readily apparent by all ent physicians.
