sunrise is an ngo focused on community development in cambodia with operations in phnom penh, siem reap, sihanoukville and kompong speu. sunrise was founded by geraldine cox, am, in 1993 when she was drawn to help a group of orphans that had been abandoned in the jungles near the thai border while visiting cambodia in the years after the pol pot regime. over the past 21 years sunrise has grown from offering residential care to orphaned, disadvantaged, disabled and trafficked children, to working with local communities to break the cycle of poverty and transform the lives of some of cambodia’s most vulnerable at at-risk families. sunrise’s programs seek to improve the livelihoods of those we work with by increasing the standards of education, improving health and strengthening economic community development. sunrise’s programs include: - residential care - education - health - housing - community development in 2014, more than 550 disadvantaged and vulnerable families fr
