replicating the successful model of regional food banks, supplybank.org (formerly k to college) is building the nation's first brick and mortar “supply bank” to efficiently address the material needs of california’s disadvantaged children and families. similarly to how food banks work with farmers and government agencies to distribute food to alleviate hunger, supplybank.org works with manufacturers, school districts and social service agencies to distribute basic materials to alleviate unmet material needs and the associated impacts on health, education, child care and employment. we combine this approach with unique partnerships that enable us to provide upwards of $3 worth of materials for every $1 donated. instead of soup kitchens, our “front lines” for distributions include more than 450 county offices of education, school districts, women, infants and children (wic) offices, first 5 family resource centers, domestic violence shelters, community college districts and other allied
