our vision a community where people with mental illness and/or addictions, and youth at risk are treated as unique individuals free from stigma, and where housing, services and support are available whenever and wherever needed to help them achieve their full potential. our mission support & housing - halton uses a person-centred approach and extensive education and collaboration to provide housing, programs, and support services to people living with mental illness and/or addictions, and youth at risk. about us shh was founded in 1982 by family and friends who wanted to ensure that people with mental health issues could remain or return to their community. the chartwell residence, a seven bedroom house, was developed to provide support and a home to address integration of people within the community. over the years, supportive housing was expanded to include three townhouses in oakville and two in acton. partnerships were later forged to develop the halton homes supportive housing pro
