Suquet Interiors
suquet interiors was established in 1985 by ramon and georgina masana, mexican architects and designers, who had moved to vancouver from their home in mexico. the unusual name of the business, “suquet”, is ramon’s mother’s catalan maiden name, one of the oldest names in catalunya. soon after the devastating earthquake that hit mexico city in 1985, they returned and brought back to vancouver 32 containers filled with columns, arches, railings, cornices and pedestals from the facade of a 200-year-old building ruined by the quake. back home, they carefully re-assembled the facade, sold off some of the pieces and made replicas of others, which are now displayed masterfully throughout the city of vancouver. they traveled the world to find one-of-a kind objects to add to their decor business. an immediate success, their business thrived for many years. sadly, ramon passed away in 2009, and the business was put on hold. ramon’s son and rick bohonis, co-founder and past president of urban barn
