sur is a student and tenant-led organization dedicated to defending and furthering tenants' rights to secure and affordable housing. sur was formed by uc santa cruz students and locals to address a housing crisis that negatively impacts students and non-students in the santa cruz area. santa cruz county is the 5th most unaffordable area in the u.s. tenants experience extreme rent-burden, overcrowding, and unsafe housing conditions. additionally, and correlating with the larger bay area trend, santa cruz low-income communities and historically marginalized communities are in danger of unjust eviction and displacement. full mission statement and goals coming soon.
