Student Volunteer Campus Community

svcc is composed of 6 sub-groups: the english language group (elg), the japanese group (jlg), the korean group (klg), the french language group (flg), the cantonese language group (clg), the mandarin language group (mlg), and the spanish language group (slg). sessions are conducted in 3 semesters a year, 11 weekly sessions a semester, and are only offered to adults. sessions are held on saturday mornings from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on the university of alberta campus, in the education building. our objectives are : - to provide participants with an opportunity to experience language in a discussion-like setting - to integrate volunteer activities as a part of everyday student life at the university - to develop cooperative learning between participants through peer-education - to introduce members of the international community to canadian culture through language education - to promote multiculturalism and the respect of the variety of cultures in canada
