Society of St. Vincent De Paul, District Council of the Diocese of Arlington, Va

while northern virginia is home to high tech companies, government facilities and glittering tourist attractions, poverty exists in all forms and is estimated at more than 65,000 people in fairfax county alone. those living at or below the poverty level in other northern virginia counties range from a low of 4% to as high as 13%. the diocese of arlington comprises 70 parishes in the 21 northern-most counties within the commonwealth of virginia. to help organize efforts to assist those in need, the society of st. vincent de paul in the arlington diocese is composed of a district council and parish conferences at 11 catholic churches. we have about 400 volunteers and are called vincentians. we have no paid staff. donations go directly to those in need. we are catholics, protestants, and people of all faiths. we are retireees, stay-at-home moms, and public- and private-sector employees. our common goal: help those in need regardless of race, origin, sexual orientation, or religious affi
