the southeast virginia community foundation is a nonprofit organization that serves the hampton roads region, primarily in portsmouth and chesapeake. we connect people who care with causes to benefit our communities by offering a variety of charitable funds and opportunities to give back. we bring personalized service, local expertise, and strong leadership to the area by investing the long term, monitoring all areas of community life, and identifying resources to shape and address local issues. as a community foundation, we help charitably-minded people find suitable ways to give and make a difference. the foundation itself plays a large role in supporting our community by awarding scholarships to the region's future leaders and grants to local nonprofits in the following areas: - arts & culture - civic & economic development - education - health & human services - religious
