my name is megan, and i’m an alcoholic. it took me a long time to admit that to myself, and i had a very hard time saying it out loud in treatment. 2020 was a tough year for everyone, especially those struggling with addiction. that year, i walked through the doors of four different treatment centers. each time scared, intimidated and overwhelmed. the one thing in each place that always made me feel better was the arts and crafts. i started be. with the desire to help those looking for a creative outlet while in treatment. for me, going into treatment was an unsure time in my life. i didn’t want to open up in group and didn’t want to relate to the other clients. however when that container or beads or paint brushes came out, i could just be. there was no therapist probing my personal life or other people watching as i nervously tried to explain why i was there. i could make a bracelet and have open conversations with people and we could relate on a different level. once i establis
