why europe? this was a question that many senior colleagues asked me when i told them that i was quitting my stable job in hong kong to study higher education in germany. it was rare (and is still rare) for hong kong students to choose europe as a study destination. it is even more rare for someone to choose higher education as a field of study. what do you do afterwards? the idea of y-europe was born together with my child during my career break, and the second time i migrated to germany in 2016. knowing the difficulties for a foreigners to enter the german job market without c1 german, i decided that i had to start my own business and create my own career. this plan was delayed because of the lack of childcare in the first two years and the continuation of my job in brussels remotely from germany since 2018. there wasn’t a “need” to start up my own business, but the idea behind y-europe was still there in my dream. during the covid lockdown, i suddenly thought of revisiting (m)y-eur
