the yycomedy festival was founded in october 2012 through inspired vision and the recognition that calgary embraces, and sometimes needs, this art form. once the foothold was strong, the festival became a registered not-for-profit and has grown to become canada's sixth largest comedy festival behind the just for laughs properties, the halifax comedy festival and the winnipeg comedy festival. our success comes from years of good old alberta boot-strapping, leading with "funny first", and with the support of calgary's comedy and community champions, like-minded sponsors, and enthusiastic audiences. our sixth annual comedy festival happens october 16-21, 2017. our vision is that we continue to connect calgary to the world through laughter. nothing grows without fertile soil and sunshine. canada is the best country in the world for growing comedy and there is nothing like the warmth of a community to accelerate growth. simply put, we are on a mission to bring more laughter to people's liv
