Oxfordshire Befriending for Life (Oxbel) Part of Age Uk Oxfordshire

oxbel (oxfordshire befriending at end of life) is part of age uk oxfordshire but offers a service to adults of any age. the service provides volunteer befrienders to oxfordshire residents who are terminally ill and to their carers. oxbel is a member of the oxfordshire pct’s end of life reference group and is part funded by the department of health. we are able to offer additional support through our collabarative work with carers oxfordshire http://www.carersoxfordshire.org.uk and the late spring project http://www.latespring.org.uk. what do the volunteers do?: volunteers visit their befriending partner each week at a mutually convenient time. visits may take place in the person’s home, a care home, in hospital or in a hospice. they will vary from week to week but may involve taking the person out, helping them maintain interests or hobbies, doing small practical tasks or just listening, being present and supporting befriending partners to simply live life. oxbel volunteers are not the
