for the taiwanese, food is a central point of life. it is their way of expressing love, affection, and care for one another. bāo • logy is a restaurant showcasing taiwanese cuisine and street food. it will highlight the cuisine’s focus on fresh, high quality ingredients and incorporate the culture’s insatiable curiosity for new ingredients and cuisines. the name of the concept comes from the chinese word 包, pronounced “bao”, which has multiple meanings. it can refer to a physical item as in a package or buns or to things that are packaged or wrapped. the primary focus of the menu will be on items that are 包s or are 包’d. the inspiration for the menu comes from recipes passed down from family, experiences from time spent in taiwan, as well as the local, fresh, and exciting ingredients available to us here in philadelphia.
