b.pymt was born from the increased need in the market for a secure way to do mobile payments. nowadays, mobile payments have become a crucial part of the day-to-day financial transactions, in part due to the health issues involved around handling cash or physical cards. with big players like apple pay and google pay, the market seems dominated, but the downside of using their technology is that the credit/debit cards entered can easily be hacked, due to the fact that it cannot protect the user’s data all the time. to solve the security problem, we’ve created b.pymt using an emerging technology called lifi - which involves the use of visible light from an led to transmit high-speed data to a photo detector (camera, webcam). to make the transactions more secure, each light signal sent from the mobile device is a one-time passcode, rather than a piece of information. this makes it impossible to be hacked. b.pymt is has an issued patent in the territory of the united states.
