Bad Quarto Productions Inc.

bad quarto productions is a not-for-profit theatre devoted to challenging assumptions about theatre with especial regard to the early modern ere. our efforts toward this end primarily take on two forms: 1) we are interested in performing play-texts of the early modern period that previous generations of scholars thought were derived from non-authorial sources. these plays, or these versions of plays, have been neglected by scholars, and remain partially unknown to modern theatre goers as a result. we happen to think they're some of the best plays you've never heard of, and we want to change that. 2) we are extremely interested in applying shakespeare's staging practices to modern works, and using the early modern playing companies as a model for creating new plays. this was, in many ways, the golden age of english theatre, and it is our belief that the practices that lead to it can inform our modern theatre practice for the better.
