the badger group includes companies linked to the original gp out-of-hours co-operative, badger ltd, founded as a company limited by guarantee in 1996. badger is the birmingham and district gp emergency room and provides mutual out-of-hours gp services to patients of its 200+ gp members. badger is linked to badger healthcare ltd, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, which provides gp out-of-hours services to patients of non-member gp practices which have opted out of 24-hour care. these services are commissioned by the nhs. the group also includes badger medical, providing other health care services, and sett support partnership, owning premises. badger is also a member of joint venture companies also providing primary health care to the nhs.
