Baird Creek Preservation Foundation (Bcpf)

mission: the baird creek preservation foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate the preservation and restoration of the baird creek watershed in order to enhance its value as an ecological, recreational, and educational resource for generations to come. history: the bcpf got its start in 1997, when a group of citizens organized to prevent a pristine 40-acre parcel of forest from becoming a housing development. the 40 acres has an upland forest of oak, hickory, white pines over 100 years old, a white cedar swamp, & a hemlock grove in the valley. over time, bcpf has involved into sort of a hybrid between a “friends” organization for the 500 acres of the baird creek greenway & a land trust. we are continually fundraising to add more acreage, but our main focus is on improving the environmental integrity of the land already in the park. we work on erosion control for baird creek & the surrounding watershed, habitat restoration through invasives removal, native
