for centuries, americans have sacrificed their safety, comfort, and their lives to protect our nation and defend our freedom. when the fighting is over and they lay down their weapons, they come home to find a world that is surreal, cold, and unfamiliar. their experiences have left them suspicious and weary,even when met with kindness and affection. the burden of what they’ve seen and done haunts them as they attempt to transition from combatants to civilians. they are left feeling isolated and detached from what they used to know and love. bare the burden project is dedicated to helping veterans find internal healing through honest communication and to helping americans understand those bearing hidden wounds. the bare the burden project is creating a support network based upon shared experiences and anonymity. it will offer america’s veterans an anonymous forum to connect with other service men and women with similar histories. creating a safe environment for people to communicate ope
