basispoints.org is a giving platform for hedge funds & socially responsible investors to return portion of their portfolio returns to fight global poverty. our mission is to mobilize investment community to eradicate multi-dimensional poverty through easy and intelligent giving. the alternative investment industry manages $2.5 trillion and giving 1 basis point of that can amount to $250 million, enough to make changes in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who are less fortunate. we want to tie giving to returns made by the investors in a consistent and automated manner to create a recurring flow of charity dollars towards the charities involved in causes related to poverty. we also want to bring portfolio management techniques in charity selection and allocation. to achieve these objectives we have introduced the concepts of basispoints charity indices and basispoints 1-10 model.
