batey shop is home to one-of-a-kind jewelry handmade in the dominican republic with love! batey shop was born out of the non-profit organization called the batey rehab project. all profits from sales go directly into the organization enabling the construction of homes within the batey communities in barahona. creation location our creation location is where our beautiful pieces are handmade. this is in the beautiful island of hispaniola, the country known as the dominican republic and specifically the region of barahona. the larimar mines are located at the top of a extinct volcano. the journey to the mines begins at a small town called arroyo and continues up the side of the mountains along a 1.5 hour truck ride passing beautiful villages and breathing in cool air. the larimar mines are a place of pure beauty and hard labor. we work directly with the mines to purchase our larimar as we believe in supporting our locals and the families who own the private mines. all stones are then
