the oil, gas & chemicals global business unit (og&c gbu) has been engaged in the planning, management, engineering, procurement, and construction of petroleum refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, gas and liquids pipelines, oil and gas production facilities, and manufacturing plants for over 60 years. during this period, we have completed more than: 51 major oil and gas field developments, 500 major chemical and petrochemical projects, 500 refinery expansions and modernizations, including several of the largest refinery complexes in the world, 110 gas processing plants and more than 90,000 km of pipelines. we have also been responsible for more than 30 percent of the world’s current liquefied natural gas (lng) capability, and we are moving aggressively to expand our role in advanced energy technologies, gasification, and alternative fuels.
