based in sunny portugal but firstly imagined in india, béhen believes in fashion that is a force for good. our small-scale production with local communities and our use of antique textiles show that it is possible to create design pieces without harming the planet. but pushing for a more ecological future isn't our only mission. béhen is also a storytelling adventure: it aims to tell the tales of the women who are often relegated to obscurity. women dressed in saris, singing in hindi and dancing under rajasthan’s sun. women who step strut over the ‘calçada’, the portuguese traditional pavement, with ‘saudade’ on their chest. women who saw the sunrise in syria but that keep their eyes wide open even in times of darkness. spelling casts with each thread of a needle, this sisterhood of artisans and protectors of the planet imbue their life stories in the fabrics that make our garments. authentic sorceresses, our brand was born from them and for them.
