we promote jewish culture and thoughts inspired by the venice ghetto, a cosmopolitan crossroads of jewish communities and a site of exchange between jews and non-jews. the venice ghetto was founded in 1516 as a place of segregation. against all odds, it became a cosmopolitan crossroads of different jewish communities and an influential site of cultural exchange between jews and non-jews. this is the vision that inspires beit venezia (from the hebrew bait – home), which aims to promote jewish thought and culture and serve as a bridge between people of all cultures and religions. beit venezia invites both residents and international visitors to live, learn, and create in jewish venice. in cooperation with international partners we foster education, research and artistic expression.
