Bendywood®

bendywood® is the brand name for the flexible wood produced by the company candidus prugger sas. this flexible wood can be used whenever the traditional steam bending method is either not profitable or not possible, namely when dry and fully profiled wood need bending. bendywood® is simply bending wood without steam that has become flexible thanks to a special processing. this special wood is the outcome of a thermo-mechanical compression, without use of chemicals. fresh green solid wood blanks are subject to compression of about 20% along the length and subsequently dried in this compressed form. bendywood® can be worked like normal wood and can be bent by hand in a cold and dry condition. this specific property allows three major advantages: a visible improvement in the quality of the final product as the wood would be worked only along the grain, a sensitive cost reduction due to a relevant saving in time and labour, consequently a relevant increase in labour productivity. be
