the history of the hotel the cross lanes hotel was originally built as a private house in 1890. in 1959 it was converted to a hotel and the features and homely atmosphere have been lovingly preserved to this day. the oak panelling in the front hall is jacobean, dating back to about 1620, and was rescued from a grand old house – emral hall at worthenbury – and carefully restored at the cross lanes in 1935. today, the cross lanes provides a delightful setting for those who enjoy good food and fine wines, whether it is dining in our restaurant, a wedding reception, a private party in our garden suite overlooking our beautiful lawns and gardens, or a meeting in the quiet seclusion of a country setting. our six acres of lawn, shrubs, orchard and paddock provide a truly wonderful setting – whatever the occasion. michael kagan, the proprietor of the hotel since 1987, and his staff extend a warm welcome to all guests at the cross lanes, and hope that you will enjoy the “home from home” atmosph
