Bhalo

bhalo designs limited edition womens clothing and accessories, made from only ethically hand woven and naturally dyed cottons and silks. bhalo is a west australian label established by jessica priemus and shimul minhas uddin, who met whilst working together in a charity sewing centre for disadvantaged women in dhaka. they decided to start their own label that not only gave opportunities to rural people in bangladesh, but more importantly appealed to an international market. their beautiful garments are designed using a variety of fun colour and graphic influences inspired by their travels. bhalo travel to a rural village for both sampling and production, where they work with a collective of local fair trade producers. as well as being focused on ethical working conditions and community development, bhalo’s production has a green focus also. the cotton is not only naturally dyed and azo chemical free, but also hand loomed and hand embroidered. silks are hand printed and all of the sewin
