Bike to Work Spokane

purpose: bike to work spokane encourages and supports people who bike for transportation, whether it's to work, shop, eat, learn, play or anything else. our real focus is "bike to work (and everything else!)". history: bike to work spokane was established in 2007 as a group of ad hoc volunteers led by barb chamberlain, a bike commuter who worked for washington state university spokane as head of communications. bicycle alliance of washington served as the initial fiscal agent; in 2008 btws joined the spokefest association, www.spokefest.org. initial efforts focused on national bike to work week. the concept expanded to "bike to everything"; unlike some btw events, the spokane effort tracks all mileage related to biking for transportation (not for recreation or fitness). organization: now entering its fourth year, the group continues to operate on the energy of volunteers and the donated resources of a number of spokane companies that have been there from the beginning: steam plant gril
